Greetings!
Hello the fair few people who even visit this journal anymore. My life has been a crazy place of paper writing and moving and emotional meltdowns, so I've just been trying to stay afloat. I feel like there might be a, oh, 70% chance of me getting some fic posted next week, and if I say this aloud I'll feel obligated and might actually do it, O.o.
(I'm about 1/2 way through the next chapter of CotR, and, weirdly, I've been on a Sei/Youko kick lately - there's a reason for this. I was like, hey, you know what would be an awesome way to try and remember some japanese? Reading fanfic in japanese {with lots of help from Rikaichan}, and then I was like, hmm, why did I never post that random ramble about Youko hooking up with girls in college? And then, I recalled, because it's shit. So I was working on it. Lord, actually, going back and checking, I've realized that I'm about half way through three or four chapters of things, and jeez, I need to pick one and finish it already! Any suggestions?)
On another note, has anyone here been to Lisbon? (Or for that matter Austin?) What is one supposed to do in Lisbon? (Or Austin?) Good suggestions might help prevent another emotional meltdown! (Because I kind of hate traveling. if I can't get there on the train or in less than 6 hours on a bus, I don't want to go. If I can pretend to myself that it will be super fun, I won't melt down until I'm actually going to leave.)

More CotR would already be amazing, but, you went and mentioned Sei/Youko! Oh, my, lord, I would give anything (I initially wrote left kidney, but then there was the story of the kid in China who literally did that for an iPad 2, and I thought it would be in bad taste) for you to write Youko. Because she is so awesome. And repressed. For some reason, I think you would do a spiffing job.

.... But then it was about fic and up they went again!!
in other words... nice to 'see' you around again :)

Good news on CotR, though of course, there's all the other stuff I want to see, especially Demons.
In any case, great to hear from you.

As for the travel bit, it kinda depends on when you're going (and, you know, which Lisbon, since people seem to think naming multiple cities by the same name is a good idea- I'm hoping you're talking Portugal and not North Dakota). Heh, so, as I read this, I turned to the Brit I live with and asked, "Know about anything that happens in Lisbon?"
His answer, "There's a film festival there."
Me: "Oh? When?"
Him: "I don't know."
So, yeah, that was useful. I went to ever helpful google for clarification and got three different results. There was one that ended just a couple weeks ago, one in November, and a gay and lesbian film festival in September.
I sadly know even less about what someone would do in Austin, I'm afraid.
Anyway, best of luck in everything!

Mari-mite..... I actually had to think a bit to remember who Youko was. (Sei is of course unforgettable) It's been so long since I watched an episode. Youko is kind of your "type" though isn't she? I can see her feeling confident about her girl trysts until she meets Sei at a party and is utterly destroyed by the force of nature.
Reading japanese=crazy-talk. Doesn't it usually take like 7 years for kanji or something? Maybe that's just writing. I know I could almost follow along with the cliche dialog after watching enough anime but the various character sets just make my eyes bleed.
As far as moving goes.... no input on Texas or Portugal but I get unsettled when I'm visiting someplace without trees or hills so... feel your pain somewhat.
Cheers!

(Anonymous) 2012-05-21 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)Would also love COTR and more everything else, but very intrigued to see what you've done with (to?) Youko. Happy with the Sei/Youko pairing, but mostly because I think if Youko wants Sei, she should have her. Youko should have whatever/whomever she wants (I take my favoritism seriously). Sei's fun. When Sei grows up, she might be Youko worthy. ;)
With all your busy-ness, I'm guessing you have not kept up with watching Once Upon A Time. If you've given it up, I suggest you skip ahead and at least look at the season finale ("A Land Without Magic"). I thought it was delightful, and I think you will enjoy it. Lots of Emma & Regina. Lots of good moments - good facial expressions and sharp conversations.
Good to see you again.
