 Small, random post of happiness:

1) [livejournal.com profile] seriousfic  read my The Guild fic, which is lovely and validating.

2) Some awesome person nominated one of my fics for the Criminal Minds Fanfiction awards, which is also lovely and validating, particularly because it's the most random fic ever, and I probably should have mentioned it sooner, because voting ends on 3/7, but I'm not going to tell people to vote for me, because I find campaigning rather morally repugnant, and I would probably flake out on any campaign promises I made.

And:
3) Emma/Emily was the 5th thing requested in the MiniFemslashKinkMeme.  This pairing is here!  And it is here to stay!

And completely random note, I'm finally going to be writing that squib on !ship names for my Phonology class, so any other ship names or portmanteau words that you think are cool, let me know them.

Apologetic self flagellation: DO NOT TAKE SIX CLASSES, SELF!  ARE YOU AN IDIOT?  So, sorry for the radio silence as of late.  Grad school is hard.  :(

You know, about 10 months ago, I wrote a couple of scenes from a story where Emily is a spy, or possibly a defected ex-US spy, living in the middle east, and she meets this kid - think Draco Malfoy - who really just wants to play soccer with the local boys, so she gets him in the game and starts teaching him some arabic, and then meets his mother, Emma, who is married to a Russian oil tycoon for suspicious reasons, who flips out at her for messing around with her son, and then I ran out of steam, since I didn't actually have a plot.

I liked it though, and now that the spy stuff is canon (I suspected this from the beginning.  I have a random scene from CotR where Emily gets a phone call after her mother retires offering her her mother's old job, and Emma is very unsurprised that her mother was a spy, and is equally unimpressed with the news that they're moving to Cairo.) it might be fun to mess around with it again.  Anyone have ideas for actual plots?  Getting mixed up in democratic revolutionary protests would be... current.
