Actually the scene with Emma, Emily and the door was the first one i had for this story, and i was so worried that it wasn't going to fit in! but then it happened naturally, and may happen again. :)
Emily's relationship with her mother is a difficult one, particularly because i'm working with the idea that she always felt abandoned by her, and her dying was the ultimate abandonment. there's a lot of anger as well as confusion with that, and being compared to her mother may be more of an insult than anything else.
Sorry if there's too much politics! It is so unimportant it's not funny. Basically it's just an excuse to meet all the corrupt scumballs Emma hangs out with.
