I'm also a huge sucker for happy endings or at least endings which give some threadbare possibility of hope and happiness. I think you could still make that little glimmer appear. Rescue's perhaps? what with all the cities about to be bombed and whatnot.

I loved the insight into emily and her situation - now maybe a followup of Emma getting hurt as she was wounded in action and then a final bringing them together only so they may have to stay apart but love from afar??
