Actually, reading this story was what reminded me of my last paragraph about not seeing enough of the actual ramification of war in fantasy. You reassuring me it was relevant is also much appreciated. And I enjoyed reading what you wrote there. Oh, something I forgot before: while the Macbeth quote was quite apt, I had another running through my head during this story (although really, it fits almost any story Emma shows up in), also by Shakespeare: "For I have sworn thee fair, and thought thee bright, Who art as black as hell, as dark as night." Although truly, sonnet 147 is more appropriate for more romance-oriented fics.
