And as I wrote, this was the perfect ending. It is one thing to say (as I did) that Emma empowers Emily and that Emily frees Emma. But these two sequences showed it powerfully, in Emily rejecting her mother by herself, and especially in the last scene, where as Emily thinks, a kind of surrender happens, and Emma relinquishes her iron control for peace.
The conclusion is both forbidding yet optimistic; She realizes that eventually judgement will come, and Hell is close by, but it is also far, and as Emma says, they might as well enjoy themselves until then. Or in the words of Ecclesiastes: "Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;"

Another amazing fic ended. Of course, now I want to see little sequels, like Emma in a white suit, and Emily receiving awards with Emma being utterly scandalous, and maybe even Emma meeting some of her family again.
