Commenting on all of this very late, but starting here and working on through...
You do Emily so well; her interior thoughts play out here as convincingly and clearly as ever. I love how her instinct to be a better mother and her terror in the face of parental responsibility trace equally back to the same sources, how she contrasts herself with Emma and considers herself weak, how all her frantic analysis and gestures toward control repeatedly go to pieces in favor of basic emotional/physical reaction to Deirdre. Loved the heartache of the AU!JJ reveal — Emily's struggle to explain through her shock, Deirdre's disappointment and frustration (loved the bit about losing the papers, how even here we get glimpses of Didi's relationship with Emma, Emma's controlling nature, Didi's conceptions of promises and punishment both recognizably childlike and colored by her AU!upbringing).
Library scene = so sweet.
Deirdre = <3.
Last sentences are, of course, killer. Simply perfect.
