woobie? I've been studying vocab for the past month and i seriously don't know that word. :( I googled it- do you mean, um, "cutely in need of cuddling?" Don't worry about that. But i want to avoid it, so tell me if i need a different definition.
As for the shields... I'm not giving away any secrets yet, (and there are secrets, some rather creepy) but some of it does have to do with this Emily's character. instead of compartmentalizing, she retreats. While (i need names for these worlds, this is getting complicated) Diamond!Emily had strong internal barriers, Moscow!Emily integrates internally but has stronger outer barriers. (I have put too much thought into this, obviously) But even more important than the shields is that Emily doesn't hate her. She doesn't really hate anyone. She thinks too much. And even if someone isn't broadcasting their conscious thoughts, if they're repulsed by you or what you want them to do, you can generally tell... Emma can generally tell.
I'm glad you think their relationship is believable. A few people are like, oh, now they're going to be happy together, right? But this chapter was their first real conversation, if you can call a conversation where one person is kowtowing and the other is angry, real, and not an argument.
For the rest, Aaron and Garcia and such, you must wait! I'm not telling. (I have an outline! for at least the next few bits). And my soul crushing standardized test is over! So you shouldn't have to wait too long.
