It is important, and it's one of the things that makes her really interesting to write, because she is this mess of contradictions and experiences and very ambiguous morality.
Thank you for the compliment. I do love 500 Miles myself, but one of the things that struck me about the Hellfire section was the use of drugs. Substance abuse does seem to be one of her thematic elements of Emma's character (with its villain/victim dichotomy), so it works in her universe. But I like to charge the whole way in the other direction, where Emma is entirely aware of what she is doing and entirely enjoying it (and rather expects that everyone else is too).
I think I'm more sorry about *how* I wrote it. I shouldn't find mind-fuckery and noncon this hot.
But this is absolutely the only way I can conceptualize Scott/Emma. I would not be surprised if she ends up doing something like this. The only trouble is the Marvel morality would not allow her to succeed, which is too bad. :(
