Well, given the way you write this very angst-filled couple, I think this was the happiest ending you could have given it. At least, they were honest with each other. Whatever wasn't said, was implied. They both know that they really can't walk away from each other and they also know that they can't live with each other for too long. At least their relationship is honest, one might say brutally honest. Their relationship may be dysfunctional but they will stay together forever in their own unconventional style
