I liked the Nana reference. (I never saw the movie, but did watch the anime) Good point in mentioning that Emma made sure to drink what was already being drank by others at the party. I liked that Emma seemed to take away the grody of being touched by Manuel by replacing the manhandling with Emmahandling. I don't know how you convey things so well (as an author in the sense of being able to describe things so clearly at the same time keeping the momentum of the story up), but the 2nd position you had Emily in seemed complex for her, and was definitely a first for me to read about or visualize in a story so my point is very original and clear in presentation.
