I echo the sentiments of the other reviewers: you're breaking my heart with Emma here!
Poor Emily! I feel so bad for her, but it shouldn't be such a surprise with this couple. Truthfully, even when it's expected, the fact that we are still able to feel the depth of emotions from these characters never feels too overdone or tiring (at least to me it doesn't). I still feel that same heaviness within me whenever something happens that would prevent Emma and Emily from truly getting together.
Nevertheless, I can understand why Emma would be hesitant to pursue anything outside of just sleeping with Emily. If she's never truly been in love before, then it's no surprise why she'd shy away from it. Just being with Emily grants her a sense of peace. She's not going to jeopardize that even if it does mean breaking Emily's heart with that decision.
I'm always curious about how you're going to progress this couple in this fic's world. I'm not sure how much poor Emily can take!
Ah, and in regards to your usual apologies/author's note, take it from someone who's gone through years of expectations, whether from others or just myself in general. Just simply do your best; don't always expect perfection. That's not to say it's not good to have goals. They are important, but if you strive to achieve something that's completely unattainable, then you're only going to be setting yourself up for disappointment--and believe me, I've been called that (and worse), too...
Trust me: as long as you put in your best effort, the other readers and I are going to see it and cheer you right on for it!
