Thank you all muchly!  Lots of data to work with!
I'll post an update when I've got it all worked out.

So, I need help...

I'm working on a linguistics project about ship names, but I can hardly think of any!

Otalia
Jindy
Heathinz
Spashley
Waldsen
Bleighton
Sassy
BAM
Blis
Chair  (I think this name describes the whole Chuck/Blair phenomenon as a whole)

(I use Emmmily for my file names :D )

I need ones that are portmanteaus of character names, not descriptors (I do miss Catfighters, but not relevant to the project), ones that are commonly accepted (not just made up on the spot), and if a pairing clearly does not have one (like Alex/Olivia, unless you count A/O pronounced something like "Eiou") that's good info too.

Girls, boys, American, Japanese, RPF, whatever, ship it or not.  Oh, and include the real names, just in case I have no clue who it is.

Please?

Naomily (Naomi/Emily, from Skins)
Freffy (Freddie/Effy, from Skins)

The first is an old one - the couple hasn't existed for years (AFAIK, at least - I went through a phase in Junior High of watching soaps, and I haven't watched this for probably at least 8 years).

Nexis (Ned/Alexis, General Hospital)
Callica (Calliope*/Erica, Grey's Anatomy)
Calzona (Calliope*/Arizona, Grey's Anatomy)

*Not sure if this makes any difference, but, while the character's name is Calliope, she more often goes by Callie.

Harry Potter
Snarry (Snape/Harry)
Harmony (Harry/Hermione, though I'm not too sure about this)

Skimmed the first page of FF.NET's Digimon section and got these:
Rukato (Ruki M/Takato M)
Takari (Takeru T/Hikari Y)
Taiora (Sora T/Taichi Y)
Kenkeru (Ken I/Takeru T) (now, I can't remember much about the show, but are those two related? Please say no. Not that I can talk. The other day I was challenging the good folk at the CM bit of TWoP to write me a fic with unsub Emily and er, a "twisted 'Liz", as one person put it.)

The other day I came across a CM "Prossi" fic. Eugh.

"Harmony" is definitely the pairing name for Harry/Hermione. In fact, there's a subset of that called "Lunar Harmony" for Harry/Hermione/Luna stories.

To add to the Harry Potter pairings:

Drarry - Draco/Harry
Honks - Harry/Tonks

Also, from Veronica Mars (why do people like that show?!)
LoVe - Logan/Veronica

BtVS:
Bangel - Buffy/Angel
Fuffy - Faith/Buffy
Ruffy - Riley/Buffy
Spuffy - Spike//Buffy
Woz - Willow/Oz
Xanya - Xander/Anya

I'm sure there's one from Angel for Wesley/Lilah, but I can't think of its name.

I saw someone use Jemily to refer to JJ/Emily, and was frankly quite horrified.

Also, Mirandy (Miranda/Andy from DWP). People need to die.

Back in the day when I watched ER, there were Carby (Carter/Abby), Luby (Luka/Abby), and Neeby (WTF)(Neela/Abby).

JAM (Jim/Pam) from the Office.

God, I hate fandom.

Carby! I can't believe I forgot that pairing... for a brief time, I shipped it pretty intensely.

Also, I love your icon! (And EEE!!!, Alex Cabot is back on Wednesday! Yay Stephanie March!)

I find that Girls Aloud fans are pretty bizarrely attached to shipper names.

Chim
Cherola
Cheradine (I refuse to use this)
Saryl
Kimbadine
Sazimba
Nicadine
Sardine
Sarola
Kimola
etc

They then start to combine them into ever longer and ever stranger words

Kimoladine
Chimdine
Saryldine
etc

And out of these, the only one I would 'use' is Chim. In fact, Chim, Bleighton and Chenzel are the only ones I use full-stop.

oh wow, 3 and 4 syllable ones. These will really make or break my theory.
"Sardine" *snickers*

Pepsi - Pepa/Silvia (Los Hombres de Paco)
BRAM - Brooke/Sam (Popular)
Khase - Krista/Chase (Blade: the Series)
Kigo - Kim/Shego (Kim Possible)...if Disney can be shipped, anything can be, lol

KiGo is, in fact, my original ship despite having never seen the show and thus indirectly responsible for my being such a screaming, obsessively refreshing LJ in case of updates Alsike fangirl. Really, like so many things, I blame TVTropes, one link to Failte200's scarily good "Alone, Together"[1] and I finally got hooked on fanfic. Unfortunately it also set the bar really high for dialogue, character and crack levels, thus my eventually stumbling over "Women of Diamond" and instantly being addicted. Also, late vote for more "City on the River"... or more of anything with M'ma/Emily, or any Emmmily at all. Actually I really like "Dream In Motion" or the terrifyingly cute Babysitter's Club.

I hadn't used LJ's spelling checker in a while, so I thought I'd give it a try. It's clearly been reading some of the same things I have.
  • KiGo - Kink, kiss & kill; also "Kirk" for Original Slash points.
  • Alsike - Allusive, so thoroughly allusive.
  • fangirl - fancily finical fanged angel, fragile & fungible (ooh, I sense a dig at fickle fandom tastes in vampirism)
  • TVTropes - Deathtraps
  • fanfic - finicky fang funfair (Wah, I don't even like vampire stuff that often!)
  • dialogue - Decalogues dislodge a deluge of dialog. Hmm, almost but not quite a description of a prompt table. "Thou shalt include a hammock".
  • M'ma - Mama Emma, MIA. I can't tell if that's a vote for "It's Hard To Be A Man" or a really sad reference to Didi asking when she was coming home.
  • Emmmily - Mammal (decisively proven) and employ? C'mon, what have they _not_ employed that's been close at hand?
I must need coffee if I think this was a good idea.

:D
I loved "Alone, Together!" It totally ruins you for anything not as good. And KiGo's hard that way, because there are such awesome epic fics, and then there's the *other stuff* which is the most uninteresting drivel. No middle ground.

Someone clearly needs to write a prompt table based on the 10 commandments... except with the nots taken out. Paganism, blasphemy, murder, adultery... now *that's* a prompt table.

Ooh, now I want to work on the City on the River prompts I was doing... except, of course, I should really work on the next chapter, and not random future scenes...

Prompt table of awesome:
Kink, kiss & kill Allusive Fanged Angel
Fragile & Fungible Deathtraps Finicky Funfair
Decalogues dislodge a deluge of dialog. "Thou shalt include a hammock" Mama
MIA Mammal Employ
